Celebrating the hands that built our nations as one
A limited-edition artwork, commissioned by local tableware brands Luzerne and Landex, has successfully raised over $240,000 in donations for Community Chest.
The artwork, showcased on a 50cm-wide porcelain plate, was created by watercolor artist Ng Woon Lam, who is also an assistant professor at Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media.
Mr. Ng, 43, was selected for his deep understanding of Singapore’s evolving culture and landscape since the 1990s. Inspired by the city’s skyline, his piece features iconic landmarks such as Raffles Hotel, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, and the Singapore Flyer.
A Collector’s Piece with a Charitable Purpose
Limited to just 50 pieces, the porcelain plate was specially designed to commemorate Singapore’s Golden Jubilee.
So far, 26 plates have been auctioned by participating charities, with bidding starting at $2,688. Proceeds from the sales will benefit nearly 40 organizations, including Ren Ci Hospital, Life Community Services Society, and the Down Syndrome Association.
The plate was first unveiled earlier this year at the World Gourmet Summit dinner at W Hotel, where it raised $8,888 during a silent auction.
Elaine Lek, head of Luzerne’s global brand team, expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support:
“We are truly encouraged to see how our Luzerne plate has played a role in supporting charitable causes during this meaningful time.”
She also emphasized that this initiative was made possible thanks to the collective effort of all participating charities, particularly Community Chest.
